Subject: VFD control by Kflop or Mach3 serial?
Hello Tom,
Thinking about making my spindle automated. Only CW,CCW and speed control if possible. Need to know if this can and should be done thru KFLOP or should be done thru serial port to Mach3?

Either way, i dont know what all i need.Or where to start.

I have seen on zone where someone has done this thru serial and Mach3 with the same drive as mine.(AutomationDirect GS2).But no info on pin assignment description.

Thanks in advance,
Troy

Hi Troy,

I used Google and found this on your drive:

It looks like the options for control are Analog or serial.  I assume you don't have a Kanalog to provide an Analog signal.  There are 3rd party boards that can receive a PWM or Step/Dir signal from KFLOP and generate an analog signal.

Otherwise the serial port from Mach3 might be an option but I'm not familiar with that part of Mach3.

Regards

Hi Tom,
Nope no Kanalog. Ok no problems. Ill keep digging at the Mach3 and Automation Direct. Maybe bug Brian a little ;)

Thanks again,
Troy
